Frank Jay Parker, Sr.'s Obituary
Mecosta - Frank J. Parker, Sr., 62, of Mecosta, formerly of Stanwood, passed away Friday, February 13, 2015 at his residence surrounded by loved ones. He was born March 25, 1952, in Big Rapids, the son of Allen and Freda (Bowers) Parker. In 1970, Frank married Mona Bentley, and they moved to Iron County in Michigan's Upper Peninsula in 1974. Frank worked in concrete construction, was a hobby farmer, and also was a volunteer fireman for the Mineral Hills Fire Department. In 1984, Frank and Mona returned to the Stanwood area where he continued doing concrete work and farming, and also attended the Stanwood Free Methodist Church. Upon retiring, they moved to Tubbs Lake in Martiny Township, and attended the Barryton Church of God. Frank is survived by his wife Mona, 2 sons, Frank, Jr., (Carrie) of Melbourneville, AR, Dan (Meghan) of Muir; a daughter Cindy or Rodney; 3 brothers, John (Wanda), Bob (Mary), and Donnie (Timmer), all of Stanwood; a sister Shirley Kerns of Chippewa Lake; a sister-in-law Ruth Parker; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son Jeremy, a grandson David, his parents, a brother Allen, and a sister Reta Moore. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at the Stanwood Free Methodist Church, with Rev. Wayne Bullock officiating. Spring burial will be in the Altona Cemetery. Frank's family will greet friends today (Monday) from 5-8 p.m. at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, and at the church prior to services on Tuesday Memorial contributions to come.
