Frederick Leslie Koolman's Obituary
Big Rapids - Frederick Leslie Koolman, 79, went to be with his Lord on Friday, May 28, 2021.
He was born January 18, 1942, in Grand Rapids, the son of Leslie Joseph and Nellie (Kuikstra) Koolman. Fred retired from General Motors after thirty-five years. After retiring he worked at Home Depot in Ludington.
Fred enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing, hunting, and playing Euchre. He also enjoyed going to church, being his last wish, John opened the Church of Christ for the first time after fourteen months, so Fred could attend. He also served in the Army reserves.
Fred is survived by the love of his life, wife Lois (Rolston) Blakeley-Koolman; his son Frederick of Grant; several grandchildren; many cousins; his special daughters Christine Darling and Janice (Jim) Unger; the apples of his eye, three great-grandchildren, Lorelei, Valric, and Aaron; and his special dogs Fluffy & Snowball. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Pine Plains Cemetery in Colfax Township with John Hilligoss officiating. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Church of Christ. Care and arrangements are entrusted to the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
