Gail Patricia Burmeister's Obituary
Lakeview-Gail Patricia (Morrison) Burmeister, age 74, of Lakeview passed away at her home on Friday, September 4, 2020. She was born in Flint, Michigan on November 13, 1945, the daughter of Hamilton and Helen (Vergason) Morrison. She was raised in the Flint area where she attended Brandon Senior Highschool. Upon graduating, Gail joined the US Army, and continued to serve her country honorably for 35 years, attaining the rank of 1st Sergeant, as a clerk in the US Army Reserves. She was also employed as a paralegal in Detroit during that time. Gail met Roy F. Burmeister in 1996 at a military function in Detroit. They moved to Lakeview during Labor Day Weekend of 2001, and became active members of the community. In 2003 Gail was mobilized for Operation Iraqi Freedom. Gail and Roy were married at their home on Vining Road on July 18, 2008. She enjoyed knitting, reading, spiritual readings and charts. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 3701 in Lakeview. Gail was a loving wife, mother and friend that will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Gail is survived by her husband, Roy Burmeister of Lakeview; daughter, Sylvia Bly and her husband, Daniel Cox of Fraser; siblings, Hamilton Morrison, Nancy Foster, Dorothy Morrison, Dana Morrison, Catherine Graham and Holly Russell; nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hamilton and Helen Morrison; first husband, James Bly; daughter, Helen Bly; sister, Sally Tipton; and brother, Jimmy Morrison
Interment with military honors at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI. will be scheduled for a later date.
