Garry David Dutcher's Obituary
Garry David Dutcher, age 71 of Remus, passed away at home on February 16, 2013 surrounded by his family.
Garry was born on June 6, 1941 to Clayton and Goldie (Secord) Dutcher, just one mile west of where he lived and farmed all of his life. He married Bonnie Loomis on March 26, 1959 and together they raised four children: David (Connie) Dutcher, Karen (Ken) Heckard, Becky (Dale) Schafer and Kaye (Dan) Wilson, all residing within five miles of their parents.
Garry started farming as a young boy alongside his father. As well as farming, he worked at Dow Chemical Company, retiring from there in 1993. He continued to farm the rest of his life. He was also very active in the community, serving as Sherman Township Trustee and a member of the Nottawa-Sherman Fire Board. His favorite pastimes included spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, and traveling.
Survivors include his wife of over 53 years, his four children, 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, five brothers and one sister. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild. A funeral service will be held at Crittenden-Hansen Funeral Home in Remus on Tuesday, February 19, at 11:00am. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, and again on Tuesday from 10:00am to the time of service at 11:00am.
