Gary Harvey Harris' Obituary
Lakeview- Gary Harvey Harris, age 74, of Lakeview passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at New Haven Assisted Living in Lakeview. Gary was born in Detroit on September 24, 1948, the son of Harvey Carl and Margaret Ann (Joyner) Harris. He grew up in Garden City and in 1966 graduated from Garden City East High School. Gary continued his education at Wayne State University. He studied for 3 years with a major in music and was a proud member of the orchestra at Wayne State where he played brass instruments. In March of 1971 Gary married his high school sweetheart, Mary Kay Anderson. His dad got him a job at MichCon, where he was employed for 32 years as head stockman until his retirement. Gary truly loved to play and listen to classical music. He enjoyed Star Trek and Star Wars as well. Gary was a member of the Kingdom Hall in Vestaburg. Gary is survived by his children, Christina (Brad) Hansen of Edmore, Sean (Cassandra) Harris of Washington, Paul (Courtney) Harris of Georgia, Candice (Andy) Bass of Georgia; grandchildren, Miranda (Jason) Drumm, Tommy (Kristal) Redzinski, Colin Redzinski, Muriel Bass, Evelyn Harris, Leo Harris, Hudson Harris, Star Harris, Aleisha (Daniel) Nealy, Samatha Hansen, Megan Hansen; great-grandchildren, Samuel Drumm, and baby Drumm on the way; brothers, Dennis Harris, Randy (Jill) Harris, Jeffery (Sue) Harris; nephews, Brandon Harris, Trevor Harris, Rob Holmes; niece, Danielle Antisdel; many cousins; and special friends, Mike and Dawn Moomey, Ashley and Nick Avery, Mary and Rob Ballard, and Cliff King. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Cory Austin Harris. A celebration of Gary's life will be held at 3:00 PM on August 20, 2023, at the Kingdom Hall in Vestaburg with Elder Sam Weitzel officiating. A dinner will follow at the Six Lake Community Center. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Josh Parcher at New Haven Assisted living for welcoming Gary from day one and to his loving caregiver Cammie who held his hand and helped make him comfortable.
