Gary Dean Todd's Obituary
Gary Dean Todd, 79, of Paris, passed away unexpectedly on March 7, 2025, at his home.
He was born July 12, 1945, in Reed City, the son of John J. Todd and Eva (Stephan) Todd and graduated from Reed City High School in 1963. Gary worked for several years at the Big Rapids Creamery before dedicating over 30 years to Benedict Manufacturing.
On November 7, 1964, Gary married the love of his life, Karen Frederick Todd, and they moved to the family farm. There, he raised beef cattle before transitioning to growing pumpkins and vegetables, a labor of love that reflected his deep connection to the land.
Committed to his community, Gary served as a 4-H leader for six years, and as a Sexton and Trustee for Green Charter Township for over three decades. His love of the outdoors was evident in his passion for hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. Above all, he cherished his family, who brought him immense joy and pride.
Gary is survived by his children, Richard (Amy) Todd, Patricia Todd, and Mark (Sharon) Todd, along with his beloved grandchildren, Eric, Anna, David, Tiffany, and Jack. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Karen in 2016, as well as his brother John, one brother-in-law, and three sisters-in-law.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Mohnke Janowicz Funeral Home in Big Rapids. A private graveside service will be held at Park Hill Cemetery, with a celebration of life planned for a later date. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to Susan P. Wheatlake Regional Cancer Center.
Gary will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
