ObituaryLakeview - George Rentschler Jr., age 94, of Lakeview, went to our Lord and his beloved wife of 71 years, on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Lakeview Terrace Assisted Living Facility, with family by his side. George was born on July 20, 1928, in Lakeview, the son of George and Lura (Dell) Rentschler. He was raised in the Lakeview area and graduated from Lakeview High School Class of 1947. George married Julia Jane Tift on January 6, 1951, outdoors, in front of the judge's home. He joined the Army in 1951, at Camp Carson, in Colorado, until he was called home to manage the farm. He enjoyed gardening, fishing (especially ice fishing), baseball, sports, and playing cards. He was a hard-working farmer who loved his family. George attended the Langston Bible Church. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, and a past member of the Farmer's Union.George is survived in death by his children, Eugene (Johanna) Rentschler of Lakeview, Dallas (Christine) Rentschler of Kentwood, Denise (Don) Schneider of Lowell, Karen Fagerman of Rockford; grandchildren, Trevor (Emily) Rentschler, Hayden Rentschler, Jennifer Rentschler, Bradley (Nydia) Rentschler, Amanda (Adam) Bowers, Allison (Ryan) Sikorski, Amber (Shawn) Schneider, Cody (Tina) Fagerman; great-grandchildren, Noah, Hannah, Tensley, Graham, Isaiah, Caleb, Levi, Cole, Micah; several nieces, nephews, and church family.George is preceded in death by his wife, Julia; one stillborn daughter, Sharon Lynn Rentschler; parents, George and Lura Rentschler; siblings, Beatrice (Wellman) Kortes, Franklin (Pauline) Rentschler, Mabel (Harold) Hammel, Thelma (Clayton) House, Grace (John) Smith, Lura Mae (Chuck) Jason, Earl (Norma) Rentschler, and Ralph Rentschler; and son-in-law, Mark Edward Fagerman.Funeral services for George will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at New Life United Methodist Church with Pastor Mark Mitchell officiating. The family will accept friends on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview and on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 starting at 10:00 a.m. at the church. A luncheon at the church will be held following graveside services in Cato Twp. Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to New Life United Methodist Church or to the Langston Bible Church.
