Gerald W. Hull's Obituary
Big Rapids Gerald W. Hull, 97, of Big Rapids, went to be with his Lord, Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at Mecosta County Medical Center in Big Rapids. He was born September 28, 1911, in Van, Pennsylvania, the son of James L. and Amelia E. (Buzza) Hull. At the age of 3 years old, Gerald moved with his family to Big Rapids, and they owned their farm on the property that is now the South Campus of Ferris State University. For over 35 years, Gerald worked as a Machinist at Hanchetts Manufacturing in Big Rapids until retiring. He was a lifetime member of the Free Methodist Church, being active in both the Big Rapids and Stanwood congregations. Gerald will be greatly missed by family and friends. Well done, thy good and faithful servant. On November 24, 1932, Thanksgiving Day, he married Iva May Potter, who preceded him in death on January 6, 2002. Surviving are 6 children, Marilyn (Gordon) Ringquist of Fremont, Phyllis (Roger) Simmons of Spring Lake, Linda (Albert) Godley of Howard City, David (Linda) Hull, Lois (Kenneth) Osentoski of St. Johns, and Geraldine Wilber of Howard City; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Toni Hull-Collins of Texas; and many nieces and nephews. Gerald was also preceded in death by a son Stanley in 1995, and infant son Gene, 5 brothers and 3 sisters. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 28, 2009, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with Rev. Wayne Cash and Rev. Ted Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Highland View Cemetery. Memorial contributions for the Stanwood Free Methodist Church may be left at the funeral home, where Geralds family will greet friends today (Friday) from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and prior to services on Saturday.
