Gerald "Jerry" Hanse Larsen's Obituary
Lakeview-Gerald "Jerry" Hanse Larsen, age 79, of Gowen passed away at Spectrum Health United Memorial on Tuesday, August 20, 2019. He was born on November 29, 1939, in Sheridan, the son of Leonard H. and Bernadine (Thompson) Larsen. He was raised in Gowen and attended the one room schoolhouse on Lincoln Lake in Greenville. He would often mention to his family, his long walks to school. Jerry married Gaylah Stine on September 19, 1959 at his parent's home in Gowen. He was a talented man and worked multiple jobs at a time, including the pickle factory, construction and General Motors where he retired after 30 years. He enjoyed classic cars, gardening, hobby farming when he was younger, and going to the casino. Jerry loved to go camping, especially with his wife, and taking the grandkids fishing. He was a member of the UAW and the gun club of Howard City.
Jerry will be deeply missed and is survived by his daughter, Dena Treadway of Gowen; his grandchildren, Meagan (Nicholas) Treadway of Coopersville, Mallory (Robert) Halliday of Greenville, Marissa (Ronald) Stephens of Monroe; his great grandchildren, Matthew and Xavier Holtrop and Caleb Halliday; siblings, Patricia Brainard of Cedar Springs, James (Sandy) Larsen of Greenville, and Judith Hansen of Greenville.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Gaylah Larsen, in 2009; his parents Leonard Sr. and Bernadine Larsen; his son, Michael Larsen; and 3 brothers, Leonard Jr., Donald and Kenneth Larsen.
Funeral Services for Gerald will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 23, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM also at the funeral home. All are invited to a luncheon at the Brigham Funeral Chapel Banquet Room following the interment at Altona Cemetery.
