Gerald Simon's Obituary
Big Rapids- Gerald Edward "Jerry" Simon 86, of Big Rapids, went to be with his Lord on Friday, December 2, 2016. He was born on April 18, 1930 in Millbrook, the son of Henry L. and Frances (Troy) Simon. Jerry was a skilled carpenter and cabinet maker. He was employed by the City of Big Rapids as street foreman, retiring in 1992. Jerry was a 4th degree life member of the Knights of Columbus. Jerry was a veteran of United States Army. He loved to square dance, play cards, hunt and fish. He is survived by one brother, Patrick (Sheral) Simon of Remus and one sister, Darlene Warner of Saginaw, plus numerous loving nieces and nephews. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary (Fitzgerald), plus nine brothers and sisters; John (Dorothy), Bernard (Doris), Francis (Marion), Jim , Herman (Margaret), Glen, Emil Joseph (Mary) Simon, Rosemary (Orin) Havens and Margaret (Michael) Stefano. A mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00a.m., Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Big Rapids with Father Michael Burt celebrant. Visitation will be Monday from 4-7:00 p.m. at the Mohnke Funeral Home with Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m.Interment will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary Catholic School.
