My dad Rick and Gerald were neighbors my whole life living in Lakeview. This man to me was my grandpa growing up as i didnt have any grand parents except for my dads mother who was only alive for a short while in mine. I will always miss seeing his smiling face when he was driving his tractors or simply being around them. Gerald had a heart of gold and was always there to help me when ever i needed it weather it was to fix my bike or show me an easier way of doing things.

I had the honor of caring for Gerald at Kelsey Hospital ❤️ This was actually our second meeting, but it took a while to realize this. Several visits later, I realized he and June were my saviors one bitter cold snowy night in January. I had gone in the ditch and had my little boy with me. I walked in the snow nearly a half mile, hoping someone would answer their door. Thankfully Gerald answered, offered to help, while June made me cocoa and gave my son a treat while holding him. I made my call, and they visited with me until my family came. When we realized that we were brought back together, for me to return the kindness, he grabbed my hand. It really was meant to be that I was his caregiver❤️ I'll miss my friend. Gerald was a kind, loving man who adored his family, and missed June so. He was also a little trickster. 😂 I'm so happy he's with June and watching over their family together ❤️

Have known the Staffen family for close to 70 years and loved and admired each and every one. Be it good or bad, we grew apart over the years and lost touch. My sincere sympathy to each of you left behind by Gerald. He loved you all and will live in your hearts and memories forever. Gerald was a fine example of a son, loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and, I am sure, you all appreciated and learned from him. Love and Hugs to you, especially Bob and Cindy, and all your families. R.I.P. Gerald, you earned your wings.
