Geraldine "Gerry" A. Rentz's Obituary
Canadian Lakes - Geraldine "Gerry" A. Rentz, 88, of Canadian Lakes, formerly of Beverly Hills, Michigan passed away Saturday, August 6, 2011. She was born November 14, 1922 in Detroit, the daugther of Frank and Ida (Pierson) Schonhoff. Gerry was a business school graduate and worked as a secretary at General Motors prior to marrying Robert L. Rentz in 1948. From that time on she was a homemaker, a job she loved. She was an active member of two garden clubs, the first in Beverly Hills and the other in Canadian Lakes, where she was the founder. She had served as president of each. Gerry was a "Life Member" of the Federated Garden Club of Michigan. She particularly enjoyed wildflowers. Gerry is survived by three sons, Lee H. (Karen) Rentz of Washington State, Bruce R. (Georganne) of Whitmore Lake and Ralph R. (Maria) Rentz of Chugiak, Alaska, four grand children, Sarah Rentz and husband Trent Hanshew of Maryland, Bob and Molly Rentz of Georgia, Alek Rentz and Max Rentz of Chugiak, Alaska, plus many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two brothers, Woodrow and Leroy Schonhoff. Gerry was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert and one brother, Walter Schonhoff. A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday August 26, 2011 at the United Church of Big Rapids with Pastor Jon Fleming officiating. Interment will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made in Gerrys memory to the Morton Township Library in Mecosta, MI.
