Geraldine E. Garrison's Obituary
Geraldine (Thompson) Garrison, age 90, of Big Rapids passed away on July 11, 2019. She was born March 30, 1929 in Blissfield, MI to the late Genevieve (Betz) Thompson and the late Norman Thompson.
Geri was graduated from Blissfield High School in 1947 and attended Huntington College, where she met her husband, Dean H. Garrison, Sr. They married in 1950 and moved to Kansas, Oklahoma, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, and Texas, finally arriving in Big Rapids in 1970. Geri loved living in Big Rapids, finding valuable friendships and roots. She was a well-organized and hard worker indoors and out, a great cook, friendly to strangers, and a kind and thoughtful mother and grandmother.
She is survived by daughter Joy (Myron) Daniels of Noblesville, IN; son Dean (Cheryl) Garrison of Richland, Washington; grandchildren Kathryn Hollingsworth of Richland, WA and Andrew Garrison of Kalamazoo, MI; brother John Thompson of Huntington, IN; and many nieces and nephews.
Geri was preceded in death by her husband, Dean H. Garrison, Sr., in 2014; brothers Walter (Bessie) Thompson, Earl (Rosetta) Thompson, Carl (Hazel) Thompson; and sisters Viola (Art) Ahleman and Lillian (Ken) Colyer.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 20, at 11:00 A.M. (gathering at 10:00 A.M.) at the Mohnke Funeral Home with Pastor Patrick Shea officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Fellowship Church building fund.
