Gladys June Bloomquist's Obituary
Big Rapids G. June Bloomquist, 89, of Big Rapids, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at Spectrum Health Butterworth in Grand Rapids. She was born May 1, 1919, in Big Rapids, the daughter of Maurice and Jessie (Jeltema) Bloomquist, and graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1937. Following graduation, June worked for the Mecosta County Probate Court until 1942. She then began her career at the Taggert Company, working as secretary and bookkeeper until retiring in 1986. She was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Big Rapids. June is survived by a niece Kay Lyn (James) VanderVeen of Grand Rapids; a nephew John (Terri) Bloomquist of Big Rapids; great-nephews Craig (Robin) Carlen of Grand Rapids, Joshua (Bobbi) Bloomquist of Portage, Jarrod Bloomquist of Manton; a great-grandniece Laila, and a great-grandnephew Nolan. June was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Stanley and wife Cedell, and Clifford, and her sister Barbara Bloomquist. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 28, 2008, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with Rev. Robert Garrels officiating. Burial will be in the Highland View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for the Susan B. Wheatlake Womens Cancer and Wellness Fund may be left at the funeral home, where Junes family will greet friends after 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
