Gladys Elizabeth Edgerly's Obituary
Gladys Elizabeth Edgerly, age 94, of Lakeview, passed away on December 8, 2015 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, MI. Gladys was born July 30, 1921 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Earl and Hattie (Nauta) Fairbrother. She was raised in Cedar Springs and attended the Solon Center School. Gladys married Hugh Morris Edgerly on September 22, 1938 in Indiana. She worked for Ore Ida for 23 years until the plant closed. Gladys enjoyed reading, crochet, gardening, and being outdoors, and she was a member of the South Hinton Bible Church.
Gladys will be missed by three children A. Marie Knapp of Reed City, Morris (Karen) Edgerly of Charlotte, and Donna Jean (Robert) Bailey of Charlotte; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren; one sister Sandra Charon of Remus; one brother Jim (Betty) McDonald of Sparta; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Hugh Morris Edgerly ; parents Earl and Hattie Fairbrother; two daughters Mary Jane (9 yrs. old) and Amy Louise Martin; two sons Milford Reno Edgerly (13 months old), and Hugh Morris Jr. "Skip" Edgerly; one grandson Hugh Edgerly; four brothers Henry Arthur, Reno Earl, and Raymond Ernest Fairbrother, and Carl McDonald.
Services for Gladys will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 11:00 am at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview, Michigan. The family will be accepting friends for visitation two hours prior to the service from 9-11 am at the funeral home. A luncheon at the American Legion in Morley will follow the burial at Deerfield Twp. Cemetery in Amble. Memorial contributions in Gladys memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
