Gladys D. Harkins' Obituary
Big Rapids Gladys D. Harkins, age 88, of Rogers Heights was called home by her Savior with her family by her bedside on Tuesday, September 20, 2011. She was born on May 22, 1923 in Austin Township, the daughter of Thomas and Elsa (Farrar) Wilber. Gladys was a member of Rogers Heights Christian Church and the Morley VFW. She enjoyed making crafts at the senior center in Mecosta. Gladys loved watching her birds. She is survived by two daughters, Ardelle (Jack) Smith-Gross of Cedar Springs, Sharon (Walter) Bambra of Bradenton, FL, two grandchildren, Jeffrey (Vicky) Smith, Dawn (Kevin) Freeman, seven great grandchildren, Greg (Jill) Smith, Brett Smith, Ashley, Erik (Misty), Paul and Jake Graham, Eli Sitzema, six great-great grandchildren, Jaylen, Nevaeh, Kayla, Lydia, Lucas and Emerson. Also surviving is one sister, Audrey Lyons of Stanwood plus several nieces and nephews. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Arthur Ulrich, Lester Harkins and John Bolton, two brothers Ward and Roy Wilber and one grandson Patrick Smith. Funeral services for Gladys will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Scott Davidson officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Stanwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or the charity of ones choice.
