Gleadis E. "Gay" Harcourt's Obituary
Stanwood - Gleadis E. "Gay" Harcourt, 88, of Canadian Lakes, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019, at her home.
She was born September 13, 1930, in New London, CT, the daughter of Donald and Neva (Lister) Kinsey, and graduated from Lansing Sexton High School in 1949. Gay then attended the University of Michigan, and was a graduate in the first class of the Dental Hygiene program there.
On August 9, 1952, she married Tom F. Harcourt, and the couple moved to Canadian Lakes in 1988. Gay was a very independent woman, as well as a strong and loving disciplinarian. She was a member of the NRA and the Republican Party, and was also a supporter of the Wounded Warriors Project.
Her husband Tom preceded her in death in 2001, as well as their daughter Susan Jo Lohman. Surviving are one son, Thomas "Scott" (Ligia) of Pearland, TX; 4 grandchildren, Thomas Scott, Jr., Steven Andrew, Connie Michelle Harcourt, and Dan Lohman; 3 great-grandchildren, Zachary, Samuel, and Sarah; her sister Susanne Kaat; her sisters-in-law Margaret Kinsey and Audrey Harcourt; and several nieces and nephews; Gay was also preceded in death by a brother Donald F. Kinsey.
A Celebration of Life for Gay will be from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Memorial contributions in her name may be made for the Wounded Warriors Project, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
