Glenn Raymond Walcutt's Obituary
Shortly after greeting the new year of 2023, Glenn Raymond Walcutt died on January 5, 2023. His parents, Carl G. and Shirley (Doerr) Walcutt, welcomed Glenn on August 29th, 1945, where he was added to their farming family, the firstborn of 5 children. Glenn and his siblings grew together on the land where they played and nurtured their lifelong values of joy and hard work.
In 1965, just a day before his 20th birthday, Glenn married Cherie Barnes and together they started their own family. He was a proud member of the Pipeline Operators Union, Local 325 where his hard work forged a career, caring for his family through his fortitude and endurance. Glenn was also a true farmer who loved tractors, particularly antiques, and would regale anyone who came by his favorite haunt, the Crystal Fountain, with tractor tales.
Glenn’s loyalty was a lifelong virtue, and his loving nature was on display through his achievements, particularly his golden marriage to Cherie and their four children. Friends and family, and even strangers, were the beneficiaries of his eager willingness to help those in need. He had a knack for fixing most anything, passing on his skills to his beloved grandchildren. He enjoyed the solitude and community that comes with hunting and farming, relishing in his involvement with the Union and the Old Iron Tractor Club. He took great pride in his farming and taking care of his fields. Neighbors, friends and acquaintances always commented on how much they admired the beauty of his fields. His absence will be felt by all who knew him.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father-in-law, Robert & Mary Barnes; and his brother-in-law, Joe Barnes.
Left to carry on his treasured memory are his wife, Cherie; daughters, Paula (Scott) Carrick, Lisa (Jon) Stickler; sons, Danny (Nikki) Walcutt and Jim Walcutt (Tami Doerr); siblings, Carlene (Bill) Dunlop, Mary Ann (Thomas) Howard, Sally (Sam) Houston, and Gale (Nancy) Walcutt; grandchildren, Jordan Carrick, Morgan Carrick, Ashley Stickler (Brian Laskowski), Dustin (Candace) Stickler, Brett (Sierra) Walcutt, Blake Walcutt and, Logan Walcutt, Craig Walcutt, and great-grandchildren, Eva and Clay Stickler.
