Glenna S Gyde's Obituary
Glenna Sunday Gyde, loving mother, grandmother and friend, passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Altercare in Big Rapids, at the age of 85.
Glenna was born June 22, 1937, the daughter of Glen and Lois Sunday. She worked as a school bus driver for Montabella Schools for many years before moving to Mecosta with her husband, Don. They quickly built and opened Gyde’s Greenhouses growing and selling flowers together before Don’s passing in 1993. Glenna did a lot of traveling throughout her life, and especially loved trips to Buckley for the Steam Engine Show. During her many travels, Glenna would collect antiques and other treasures, along with bells from each state she visited. Holidays were a favorite of Glenna’s, as it meant time spent with family, and “goody box” season. She would bake all sorts of delicious goodies, package them up, and give them to all of her family and friends. The selfless person she was, Glenna would give you the shirt off her back. She shared her time and talents by volunteering at the Senior Center, and enjoyed every minute of it. Glenna loved being outside in her flower garden, watching the humming birds, and Sundays at the Mecosta “The Village” Free Methodist Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Terri (David) Anderson, Rita (Jim) Weide and Esther (Rick) Fox; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her parents; daughter, Cathy Richwood, and two brothers.
A graveside service will be held Friday, October 14th, at 11am, at Wambolt Cemetery in Remus, with Pastor Dar Howard officiating. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Mecosta County Senior Center.
