Gordon Roy Ellis' Obituary
Hawkins - Gordon Roy Ellis, 74, of Hawkins, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 21, 2017. He was born on September 6, 1942 in Cadillac, Michigan, the son of Richard C. and Donna Jean (Becker) Ellis. Gordy graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1961. He married Beverly Kay Graham in 1964. Gordy had worked at Garner Denver and Federal Screw Works in Big Rapids. He married Sandra L. (Hatchew) Johnson in 1989. Gordy enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He is survived by his wife, Sandra and his two children, Sherry (Loren) Merklinger of Reed City, Mike (Erin) Ellis of Lansing, is daughter, Candace Mayer of Big Rapids, three grandchildren, Jake, Marissa and Danielle Ellis and three step grandchildren, Kali Johnson, Heaven and David Mayes. Also surviving are sister, Nancy Wittemore of Daytona Beach, FL and brother, Richard (Sue) Ellis of Kingman, KS. Gordy was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services for Gordy will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Kim DeLong officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday at the funeral home from 6-8:00 p.m. Interment will be at Martiny Cemetery in Rodney. Memorial contributions may be made to Animal Rescue Coalition (ARC).
