Grace P. Simpson's Obituary
Grace Patsy Simpson, age 79 of Bitely, passed away Friday December 21, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on September 22, 1933 in Detroit, MI. the daughter of George and Marion (Howieson) Christofaro. She was married to the late Bobby Simpson for 54 years. They lived in Detroit and St. Clair Shores before retiring and moving to Bitely, MI in 1996. Grace started working for Kresge at age 14 and retired from Kmart 50 years later. She went from being a city girl to a country girl upon rretiring. She enjoyed reading a good book, tending her flowers and puttering around outdoors. Grace looked forward to working the local elections and assisting voters. She loved her winters in Florida and especially walking the beach and striking up conversations with fishermen. Grace is survived by one son; David (Georgia) Simpson of Baldwin, one daughter; Jackie (Jack) VanderMeulen of Twin Lake, five grandchildren, Madison, Merannda, Bryana, Jami and Joel (Jackie), five great grandchildren, Jaylynn, Dayton, Drew, Ella and Annabelle, one sister, Linda (Ron) Solterisch plus four sisters-in-law, many cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends, Leroy and Laurie Jackson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bob and sister Marion. Funeral services for Grace will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday December 27, 2012 at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7p.m. at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until time of services Thursday. Interment will be at Whipple Cemetery.
