Guy E. Frizzell's Obituary
Guy E. "Skip" Frizzell Jr., age 71, of Independence, Missouri passed away on Saturday July 28, 2012. He was born on October 5, 1940 in Port Huron, Michigan, the son of Guy E. and Vivien A. (Grice) Frizzell. Skip graduated from Plainwell High School in 1958. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Western Michigan University in 1962 where he attended on scholarship for performing and leading the marching band as drum major. His teaching career in Michigan began in Centreville where he taught band. Next he taught band in Coldwater Junior High, Vocal/Choir in Livonia, then back to Coldwater. From 1973 to 1990 he taught vocal music at Mona Shores High School in Muskegon, where he shared his love for music performance with the "Singing Sailors." Skip concluded his career in Independence, MO in 1998 where he worked as Worship Services Coordinator for the Community of Christ World Church Headquarters. He is survived his daughter, Amy Lynn (Chris) Pierce of Blue Springs, MO, his son Aaron of Knoxville TN, three grandchildren, Leslie and Amanda Pierce and Gage Frizzell, his mother Vivien Frizzell, sister Jan (Bob) Williams all of Jackson, MI., two brothers, Hap (Patti) Frizzell of Grand Rapids, MI. and Jack Frizzell of Big Rapids, MI., several nieces and nephews, plus brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roger and Georgia Gault of Blue Springs, MO. Skip was preceded in death by his father, his wife of 48 years, Ann Gault Frizzell, her parents, Noble and Gertrude Gault, and special foster son, Mike Taylor. A memorial service for Skip will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday August 18, 2012 at Cornerstone Community of Christ Church in Independence, Missouri.
