Happy Huskey's Obituary
Happy Huskey, loving father, grandfather, significant other and brother, passed away at his home Tuesday, October 28, 2014. Cremation will take place with a memorial ceremony to be held at New Hope United Methodist Church-Mecosta, Sunday, November 2nd, at 3:00 PM. Visitation will also be at the church on Sunday from 2:00 PM to the time of service. Happy was born September 30, 1942, the son of Cecil and Martha (Stribling) Huskey. After graduating high school, Happy went on to join the U.S. Marine Corps and proudly serve his country for four years.
He enjoyed gardening, his time spent as the lay leader for New Hope UMC, reading, and spending time with his grandchildren. He had a great love for the mountains and the beach, both of which he called home during his earlier years. Happy loved a good bargain as well as a “healthy” debate.
A true character, independent, playful, social, hard-headed and a flirt, were all words best used to describe him.
The many characteristics of Happy will be greatly missed by his daughters, Beth (Russ) Riley, Alyson Huskey, and Monica (Jeff) Sanders; grandchildren, Lyle, MaryAnn, Matthew, Gary and Ethan; great-grandchildren, Casey and Landon; significant other, Kathy and numerous other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may direct memorial contributions to New Hope United Methodist Church, 7296 9 Mile Rd, Mecosta, MI 49332 or Heartland Hospice, 1625 E. Broomfield Street
Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858-5429. Envelopes will be available at church.
