Harold Ricky Nelson's Obituary
Edmore- Harold "Rick" Nelson, age 64, of Elwell passed away at home with his wife by his side, on Thursday, February 3, 2022. He was born in Ionia on May 31, 1957, to Harold and Josephine (Ogden) Nelson. Rick was raised in the Ionia area, where he attended Haynor Country School and Ionia Public Schools. He was employed by CSX Railroad from 1978 until retiring in 2017. He continued to work doing varies jobs, never truly retiring. He worked for STS Security in Mt. Pleasant and drove semi. Rick and Susan Swisher were married on May 29th, 2015, in Ithaca, Michigan. Rick enjoyed snowmobiling, traveling, working in his shop, and visiting with his railroad family. He enjoyed football, softball and farming in his younger years. He was a hard worker who loved being outdoors. Rick was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance Way Union.
Rick will be forever missed and is survived by his wife, Susan; children, Kevin Nelson of Columbus, Nebraska, Donny Nelson of Ionia, Lisa (Bill) Parks of Fenwick; 7 grandchildren; and brother, Bryan Nelson.
Rick was preceded in death by both parents; stepdad, Fred Hochsprung; sisters, Cindy Nelson, and Kim Ballis.
A graveside service will take place at 12:00 PM on Monday, February 7, 2022, at Richland Township Cemetery.
