Harris Diehl's Obituary
Harris Diehl, age 94 of Remus, passed away peacefully November 17, 2022, at Royal View Assisted Living, surrounded by his loving family. A funeral service in his honor will be held Tuesday, November 22nd, at 11:00 am at Janowicz Family Funeral Home in Remus, with Pastor Dar Howard officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, and again one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will take place in Broomfield Township Cemetery. Those attending the service are welcome to wear their best flannel shirt in honor of Harris.
Harris was born May 13, 1928, the son of Joseph and Silva (Main) Diehl. He married the love of his life, Maxine on May 3, 1952, and together the two grew their family to include four children. Harris enjoyed hunting, working on the farm, and showing off his muscles. He was always ready for a wrestling match and would pride himself on his strength and physical abilities. A farmer all his life and an Army Veteran, Harris wasn’t afraid of hard work. Between farming, Harris also worked for the City of Mt. Pleasant. He loved baseball, whether playing, coaching or watching the Tigers on T.V., and he even started the Remus Senior Softball League.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Roger (Theresa) Diehl, Marsha (Richard) Huzzey, Nikki (Daniel) Walcutt, and Jolene Sweet; eight grandchildren, Nathan (Mindy) Huzzey, Jill Huzzey, Brad (Jamie) Sweet, Caity (JD) Burnell, Hunter Diehl, Hannah Diehl, Brett Walcutt, and Blake Walcutt and five great-grandchildren, Brody Sweet, Rosemary Sweet, Myia Huzzey, Maci Huzzey, and Kobe Burnell.
Harris was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maxine; siblings, Ferris Diehl, Blanche Lesky Pung; JD Diehl, Ronald Baker, and Edna Bray, and son-in-law, Mike Culhane.
