Harry C. Brennan's Obituary
Big Rapids Harry C. Brennan, 64, of Big Rapids, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at Mecosta County Medical Center, from injuries sustained in an accident. He was born December 3, 1943, in Breckenridge, the son of Charles and Rosella (Lytle) Brennan. For several years, Harry served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at Wright-Patterson AFB and later K.I. Sawyer AFB. Following his discharge, Harry returned to the Big Rapids area, and on January 25, 1964, he married Peggy Thebo, and they have lived in Big Rapids since. For 31 years, Harry served the city as a member of the Big Rapids Fire Department, retiring as a Captain in 1998. A servant at heart, he is remembered for his numerous random acts of kindness to friends, family, and strangers throughout the community. Harry became a Christian in 1989, and took great joy in serving his Lord. As a member of Trinity Fellowship Evangelical Free Church in Big Rapids, he volunteered for numerous missions. He also actively supported the Right to Life of Mecosta County. As an avid outdoorsman, Harry enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling with his wife. Harry loved spending time with his family, and was especially dedicated to his grandchildren. Surviving are Peggy; their children Brenda (Tim) Geib of Indiana, Amy Fuller (Ray Padilla) of Big Rapids, Michael (Jennifer) Brennan of Pinckney; 10 grandchildren, Timothy, Joshua, Alexander, Ethan, Jonathon, Abigail, Megan, Samuel, Isabella, and Noah; a brother Earl of Mecosta; his beloved mother-in-law Marguerite Ferguson; his sister-in-law Vicki (Rob) Burke of Big Rapids; his brother-in-law Alan (Bonnie) Thebo of Rodney; and several nieces and nephews. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Charles, and a sister Fern. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 16, 2008, at Trinity Fellowship Church, 15085 220th Avenue in Big Rapids, with Pastor Gary deBock officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Plains Cemetery. Harrys family will greet friends today (Thursday) from 5-8 p.m. at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, and after 12 p.m. Friday at the church. Memorial contributions in his name may be made for the Big Rapids Fire Department Equipment Fund, and may be left in care of the funeral home or Department of Public Safety.
