Helen L. Heyart's Obituary
Helen L. Heyart , age 78 of Canadian Lakes passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Spectrum Health, Big Rapids., MI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in her honor Monday, July 6th at 11:00 am at St. Michael Catholic Church in Remus with Father Aaron Ferris as celebrant. The family will greet friends at church starting at 10:00 am until the time of services.
Helen was born August 8, 1936, the daughter of Harold and Rhea (Short) Swart. Helen was raised in Flint, Michigan, and graduated from high school in 1955. On July 24, 1965 she married Major Richard T. Heyart U.S. Air Force MSC at Wurtsmith Air Force Base, MI. Since he was serving in the Air Force, they traveled and lived in various locations throughout Europe and the United States. They settled in their current home at Canadian Lakes in 1999.
Helen was a hard worker, and loved to bake, making cookies for enlisted personnel and delivering them personally. She enjoyed taking spontaneous road trips, researching genealogy, and was and avid reader, especially enjoying mystery, history and Louie L’Amour books.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Major Richard T. and son Richard J. of Canadian Lakes, and two sisters; Nellie Swart and Martha Franklin, both of Arizona. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both parents, brother George Swart, and sister Olive Swart.
