Henry Lee Behrenwald's Obituary
Lakeview: Henry Lee Behrenwald, age 68, passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at his home surround by his wife, daughters and beloved dogs.
Henry was born on May 21, 1952 to Arthur Kraining Behrenwald and Charlotte Louise (Van Antwerp) Behrenwald. Henry was raised on the family farm just south of Lakeview and attended Lakeview Community Schools until graduation in May 1970. He was a great student and was active in FFA where he received gold in Daily Management. He was also active in the Parliamentary Procedure team which groomed him for local, state and national governing bodies. Henry served as FFA State Secretary and earned an American Farmer degree in 1973. In later years, Henry served on the Lakeview School Board, was a Trustee and a Board Member for Cato Township.
Henry enlisted in the Michigan National Guard and served his county honorably from 1970 to 1976. Also, during those years he continued farming and providing for his family. Henry married his high school sweetheart Marlene and successfully raised four daughters.
Henry enjoyed spending time at Tamarack Lake with his family, ice fishing in Canada yearly with his buddies, playing cards, spoiling his grandchildren and hunting. Henry was known for his massive sense of humor, was dedicated to his community and would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. Henry will be greatly missed and always remembered for his jokes.
Henry was proceeded in death by his parents Arthur and Charlotte Behrenwald and sister-in-law Mary (Raush) Behrenwald.
Henry is survived by his loving wife Marlene Behrenwald and four daughters including Sonya (Brian) Dillon of Lakeview, Alisha (Jeff) Bigler of Lakeview, Jill (Shaun) Bartolo of Greenville and Amy (Enrique) Yepez from Bradenton, FL; grandchildren: Erica Behrenwald, Isabel Dillon, Nicholas Bartolo, Miguel Yepez, Aurelia "Baby Charlotte" Yepez, Nicole Holbrook and Arianna Bartolo; 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his siblings: Donald Behrenwald of Sparta, Gordon (Susan) Behrenwald of Lakeview and Judy (Ronald) Flachs of Hickory Corners, MI.
Visitation and interment services have already taken place with burial at Lakeview Cemetery with arrangements made by Brigham Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Spectrum Health Hospice and Palliative Care, 750 Fuller Ave. NE Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
