Herbert F. Wells' Obituary
Paris Herbert F. Wells, 95, of Paris, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2008, at Altercare of Big Rapids. He was born January 16, 1913, in Detroit, the son of Clarence and Mary (McNamara) Wells, and moved to Paris as a child with his family. Herb was a life long farmer, and still lived on his family farm. He also worked for various roofing and siding companies in the area. For several years, Herb served as Green Charter Township Supervisor. He was a lifelong member of St. Annes Catholic Church in Paris, and was also a member of the Paris Trailblazers Snowmobile Club. Herb enjoyed playing euchre, especially when he was winning. In 1938, he married Elda H. Paris, who preceded him in death in 1995. Surviving are 1 son, Robert (Doris) Wells of Paris; 2 daughters, Carol (Dick) Scheid-Kailing of Big Rapids, Nancy (Ray) Hutchinson of Reed City; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; a sister Marion DeVries of Paris; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by an infant grandson Robert, a brother Edward, and a sister Sue Jackson. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Reed City, with Rev. Ronald D. Hutchinson, grandson, as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Annes Cemetery in Paris. Herberts family will greet today (Monday) May 19, 2008 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids with vigil service beginning at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions for St. Annes Catholic Church or the Susan B. Wheatlake Womens Cancer and Wellness Fund may be left in care of the funeral home.
