Herbert J. Woerpel Jr.'s Obituary
Lakeview - Herbert John Woerpel Jr., age 56, of Wayland, Michigan formerly of Stanton and Greenville, passed away December 25, 2016 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. Herbert was raised June 14, 1960 in Traverse City, Michigan, the son of Herbert John and Charlene Marie (Elsenheimer) Woerpel Sr. Herbert was raised in Torch Lake, Traverse City, and Stanton, Michigan. He graduated from Greenville High School. Herbert served his country in the National Guard.
Herbert was employed in Concrete Construction with Ted Meidema Cement Contractors for 20 years. Herbert was also employed as an assembler at Frigidaire in Greenville for over 15 years. In 1978, Herbert met the love of his life, Janice Brooks, in Florida. They married on August 21, 1982, in Sidney, Michigan.
Herbert enjoyed hunting, fishing, Detroit Red Wings, 4-wheeling, raising homing pigeons, and being high on life. He loved his family.
Herbert will be deeply missed by his mother Charlene Hanson of Belding; his wife Janice Woerpel of Wayland; two sons Herbert John (Laura) Woerpel III of Rochester Hills, and Philip James (Crystal) Woerpel of Orlando, FL; six grandchildren Abigail, Philip Jr., Donald, Isley, Owen, and Cole; two sisters Christine Marie Ortiz of Greenville, and Laurie Walker of Greenville; several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Herbert was preceded in death by his father Herbert John Woerpel Sr., and one brother Robert Lee Woerpel in 1982.
A celebration of Herbert's life will be held Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 6:00 p. m. at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview, Michigan. Memorial contributions in Herbert's memory, may be made to his wife Janice Woerpel.
