Hunter Christopher Torpey's Obituary
Hunter Christopher Torpey of Winn, MI. Unexpectedly passed July 10, 2026, at the age of 27.
He was born April 19,1999 the son of Chris and Renee Torpey.
Hunter graduated from Shepherd High School in 2017. After graduating he applied and was accepted into Local 324 Operating Engineers. Became a Crane operator/AD (Assembly/Disassembly) of cranes, and worked for White Construction. Hunter had moved through the ranks with hard work and dedication. Hunter was incredibly involved in his community. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion post 240 of Blanchard. Worked the voting poles for Fremont TWP as a pole inspector. He was on the Fremont TWP Review Board.
Hunter enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, and golfing. Spending time with all his buddies and the ladies. Hunter loved this country as he was very Patriotic. Hunter had participated with the annual Chicken BBQ that the American Legion put on during Blanchard Days for at least 17 years. He considered it a National Holiday for him. Hunter always lit up a room when he walked in. Hunter was usually the life of the party dancing wherever and with whomever would. He was kind to everyone and would do anything for anyone. Hunter was an Ordained Minister and performed a few weddings for his friends.
He is survived by his parents: Chris and Renee Torpey, Fiancé Olivia Wilson and unborn daughter, Sister Tricia Hammis, Brother Alex (Wendy) Torpey, Nephews Aris Torpey, Christian Hammis, Niece Emma Hammis. Several Aunts and Uncles, many cousins and extended family and friends. Adopted grandparents Jim and Janitha Bardos.
He was predeceased by paternal grandparents Hilton and Helen Torpey. Maternal grandparents Wallace Reichert, Connie (Carl) McQueen. Cousins Matt Reichert, Josh Gatehouse, Connor Talbert, Thomas Torpey. Uncle Joe Burch II.
Any of Hunter's friends/family that would put an American Flag flying from their vehicle on the way to the service would be appreciated as he loved our great American Flag. Please dress casually for the service.
In lieu of flowers please direct any contributions to the Blanchard Millpond Park. Envelopes will be provided at the service.
A memorial service will take place Sunday July 19, 2026, at the Winn Community Building 8015 Franklin St. Winn MI. 48896 12-4 pm. Patti Hicks to officiate. Care and arrangements have been entrusted to Janowicz Family Funeral Home - Remus.
