Irene Emma Priest's Obituary
Irene Emma Priest of Vestaburg, age 92, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 in St. Louis Michigan. Irene was born on April 29, 1923 in Ionia, Michigan the daughter of Vivian and Clara (Borton) Priest. Irene graduated from Ionia public schools on June 14, 1940 and went on to Graduate from Moody Bible Institute of Chicago in 1950 and continued her education at the University of Illinois with a Bachelor Degree in Nursing in 1958. She followed her career working in Grand Rapids as a County Nurse and then went on to work as a plant nurse at Hitachi in Edmore, Michigan until her retirement.
Irene is the last known charter member of the 1st Baptist Church of Vestaburg, Michigan; she was very active in the church her entire life. Irene had a love of music; she played the organ and piano. She enjoyed working on art as well. Irene spent the last 7 months at Schnepp Senior Care Center in St. Louis, Michigan. She will be missed dearly by her family, church family and residents and caregivers of Schnepps.
Irene is survived by her cousins, Gerald (Marlene) Stilson, Mariyln (Stan) Elzinga, Dora Mitchell, Loren Frey and Dale Borton. Irene was preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place Friday, March 18, 2016 at 11:00 AM at 1st Baptist Church 8400 Derry Rd, Vestaburg, Michigan with Pastor Peter Carlson to officiate. Visitation will also take place Friday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will follow in Richland Township Cemetery. Those planning a memorial contribution are asked to consider 1st Baptist Church of Vestaburg.
