Irene Martina "Marti" Snider-Troupe's Obituary
On December 13, 2023, Irene (Marti) Martina Snider-Troupe passed away at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, MI. Born on April 5, 1950, Marti was the sixth child of Martin and Irene (Dare) Snider. While born in Detroit, Marti grew up in Remus and Big Rapids, graduating from Morley-Stanwood High School in 1969, and later attended classes at Ferris State. She enjoyed the chaos of a bustling family. As a younger sibling, she learned to take the time and observe the goings on around her, training her to be wise from an early age.
Marti loved her family, and her special talents came out in the kitchen. It was with her skilled hands that she found great joy in making others happy through her cooking and baked delicacies. As her siblings had children, Marti's special birthday treat for each honored niece or nephew was to bake a cake and design it with whatever character they wanted.
Her quiet observation skills made Marti a shrewd card player and she loved to play. Never letting a learning opportunity pass, Marti made sure that whomever her opponent was earned their win or endured their loss with grace.
On June 27, 1992, Marti found her missing piece and married Lyle Troupe. Together they were married for many happy years before his passing. While Marti never had children of her own, she was a tremendous mother figure to her many nieces and nephews. It also allowed her the time to dive into genealogy and gift the family with her many hours of research into their German heritage. Marti's legacy will live on through her family and foundation of knowledge.
Preceding Marti in death are her parents, Irene Dare Snider Yax, Martin Snider, and Solon Yax; husband, Lyle; Sister, Sharon (Cricket) Whetzel; brother, Martin (Lucky) Snider; brothers-in-law: Bruce Whetzel, David Bryant. Dick Anger and Glen Troupe; niece, Kelly Garcia; and nephews: Alex Landreth, John Anger and Rich Anger.
Left to carry on her memory are Siblings: Jan Bryant, Pat Anger, LaVina (Jim) Dise, Gidget (Jon) Turner, Mary (Walley) Garcia, Bobbi (Larry) Landreth; sister-in-law, Marge Troupe, and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with Pastor Jeremy Wicks officiating. Marti's family will greet friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Wednesday prior to the service.
