Irene Stilson's Obituary
Morley -Fannie "Irene" Stilson, 84, of Morley, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 6, 2014. She was born on April 11, 1929 in Big Rapids, the daughter of James and Fannie McHugh. On November 2, 1946, Irene married Joseph R. Stilson, and they had lived near Morley since. Together they had 6 sons, William (Jackie) of Morley, Robert (Rachel) of West Liberty, KY, Gerald "Jerry" (Lorraine), Michael (Dianne), John (Terry), and Patrick (Dagmar), all of Morley; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Peter (Barbara) McHugh of Boston and Dennis (Patricia) McHugh of Rogers Heights; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Irene was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Joseph; son, Gerald "Jerry" Stilson; great-grandson, Ross Michael Tronsen; two sisters, Margaret McHugh and Joanne Baumgartner; and four brothers, James, Charles, Thomas, and Paul McHugh. Irene enjoyed cooking and baking for her family as well as friends. Guests could always expect a good hot cup of coffee and something to eat upon arrival. Her Texas sheet cake and pineapple upside-down cake were all time favorites. She had a generous and giving spirit. Irene attended Green Country Church in Morley and was also a member of the Morley American Legion Post #554 Auxiliary. Funeral services for Irene will be at 1:00 pm Thursday, April 10, 2014 at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Roger Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the Aetna Cemetery in Morley. Irene's family will greet friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., and prior to services on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to WISE or to the Susan P. Wheatlake Regional Cancer Center. Irene's family wishes to extend a special thank you to all home healthcare workers, medical personnel, the staff of Altercare of Big Rapids, Great Lakes Hospice, and to so many others for their care and kindness.
