Irma Raylene Wilson's Obituary
Lakeview-Irma Raylene (Otzman) Wilson, 89, of Six Lakes, passed away Monday, October 25, surrounded by her beloved son and daughter.
Irma was born on March 9, 1932, in Lakeview, Michigan. She was the daughter of Emanuel & Muriel Otzman. She graduated from Lakeview High School.
As a young girl she worked on her parents' farm- from driving her dad's tractor, picking potatoes, feeding the chickens and gathering eggs. In her early 20's she started working at the Glove Shop in Greenville, Michigan. One of her co-workers was the aunt of a young handsome gentleman named LaVerne Wilson. LaVerne's aunt orchestrated a meeting... LaVerne came to Irma's door... Irma, not expecting to meet the love of her life at that time, answered the door. They were married a year later on January 30, 1954. They were married for 58 years, until LaVerne passed away March 21, 2012.
In July of 1954 their daughter Cheryl was born, followed in 1956 by their son Robert (Bob). Irma continued working at GE in Edmore. In 1960, LaVerne and Irma bought the Lewis Clark Hardware store in Six Lakes which they owned and operated until 1984.
After they sold the hardware store, Irma spent her time gardening and canning. She was always canning for her family. Grandma Irma always told the grandkids they had to help weed, pick and can if they wanted to eat the food.
Irma loved to play euchre and BINGO. She was a hardcore euchre player- and never missed a Thursday night playing BINGO.
Irma is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Ann Weld and special friend Mike Whalen; Son, Bob (Maureen) Wilson; grandchildren Brett (Larrine) Weld, Chris (Ashley) Weld; Jodi (Don) Hesling; Troy (Mollie) Niewiadomski; Telah Wilson, Tarah (Scott Ives) Wilson, Cassandra (Jason) Brown; Great grandchildren Aaliyah; Madison, Ashlyn, Kaitlynn; Morgan; Mason; Annaleise; Conner; Arianna; Roland; Lilly; Reid; many nieces and nephews and special friend Sarah Borkholder.
Irma was preceded in death by her husband Laverne; her parents; in- laws, Ted and Ellen Wilson; four sisters, Maxine Kohler; Jean Jensen; Barbara Lindy and Shirley Hadder; and son-in-law, Neil Gordon Weld.
Irma had two special furry friends... Bing and Riley.
