Irvin "Irv" Lee Beardslee's Obituary
Lakeview-Irvin "Irv" Lee Beardslee, age 93, of Morley passed away on June 12, 2024, at the Meijer Heart Center in Grand Rapids. He was born in Sparta on July 10, 1930, the son of Arlo and Hattie (Woolworth) Beardslee. The family moved to a farm north of Lakeview in 1933, where Irv was raised, attending Brockway School through 8th grade, and graduating from Lakeview Schools in 1949. Irv married the love of his life, Catharine "Kay" Swartwood on January 20, 1950, at the Solon Center Church. He was employed as a mechanic at Bollinger's for 5 years before transferring to Lakeview Schools and was quickly promoted to Transportation Director. A position he held for over 33 years until his retirement in 1995. Irv was a good and kind man whose smile could light up any room. He was an active member of the Brockway Wesleyan Church in Morley, where he was a board member, song leader and Sunday School teacher for many years. Irv enjoyed fishing and was a talented woodworker. He loved his family deeply and cherished the time spent with his grandchildren. In his own words, "I've lived a good life." He will truly be missed by everyone blessed to have known him.Irv is survived by his wife of 74 years, Catharine of Morley; children, Darrell (Luanne) Beardslee of Morley, Gordon Beardslee of Pheonix, AZ, and Debra (Doug) Thompson of Stanwood; 11 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, Arlo and Hattie; and a brother, Vern Beardslee.Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 17, 2024, at Brockway Wesleyan Church in Morley, with Pastors Rick Carpenter and Jeff Lemire officiating.
