Jack Lee Gatehouse Sr.'s Obituary
Leaving a large and loving family, Jack Lee Gatehouse Sr. died on March 22, 2022. Jack, born on August 5, 1956, came out singing, sharing that joy with anyone who would listen to his karaoke and even by himself if they didn’t. His love of place, particularly Blanchard, prompted him to marry and raise his family there, be heavily involved with Blanchard days, volunteering at the Chicken BBQ and even roasting pigs for special events.
Adoring his children and grandchildren, “The Elder” spent many hours outdoors teaching them the delights of hunting, fishing, and love of the woods. Every kid and grandkid had their special time with him on the boat or in the woods, especially when they came across shed antlers, adding to his prolific collection.
If he wasn’t camping or in the woods, Jack could be found partaking in garage beers, riding on the ranger keeping an eye on things or taking friends on tours of the land he loved so well. Even though he was a noted arm wrestler back in the day, it took nothing to twist Jack’s arm to help a friend, his caring nature shining through.
Jack was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Gatehouse Sr.,wife of 25 years, Sona, and his son Josh Gatehouse. Left to carry on his memory is his mother, Sarah Gatehouse, his brothers, Terry and Kenny Gatehouse, his sister Brenda (Brian) Krum, and legacy, children Jack (Joanna) Gatehouse Jr., Kelli (Christopher “Elmo”) Walton, Karie (William) Boyd, Jerimiah (Whitney) Gatehouse, and Jenna Gatehouse along with his 15 grandchildren. Left to grieve with family are his special pals Dan and Mickie Fredericks.
Fittingly, a celebration of life for Jack will be held at “The Den”, aka the Blanchard Millpond on Saturday, April 23rd at 1 p.m.
