Jack Allen Hurst's Obituary
Paris - Jack A. Hurst, 74, of Paris, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at Advocate BroMenn Hospital in Normal, IL.
He was born November 20, 1943, in Big Rapids, the son of James and Delores (Thompson) Hurst, and graduated from Reed City High School in 1962. Jack then served his country in the U.S. Air Force until his honorable discharge in 1966.
In 1967, Jack married Mary C. Braun, and they made their home in Gaylord until returning to the family farm in Barton Township in 2000. For over 50 years, he owned and operated Bar Systems Service, and was still serving area customers. Jack and Mary enjoyed travelling the country to visit with family, and especially enjoying spending time with their grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Mary; their children Linda (Dale) Manske, Edward (Christina) Hurst, Walter (Christine) Hurst, Theresa (Mark) Beach, Barbara (Keenan) Amundsen, Paula (Matthew) Rexer, and David (Gulrukh) Hurst; 15 grandchildren, Coletta, Samantha, Nichole, Connor, Audrey, Jack, Alex, Garrett, Madelyn, Eleanor, Catherine, Kara, Mary, Sahil, and Leila; 3 brothers, Richard (Judy), James (Patty), and David (Marlene); 2 sisters, Janice Moore and Susan (Martin) Kidder; and many nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Paris., with Father Michael Hodges celebrant. Burial will follow in the Davenport Cemetery in Barton Township. Jack's family will greet friends at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday until the time of the Mass. Memorial contributions in his name may be left for St. Anne Church.
