James Bryan Bowman's Obituary
Big Rapids - James Bryan Bowman, 78, of Big Rapids, passed away Friday, April 23, 2021, at his residence.
He was born May 24, 1942, in Big Rapids, the son of Robert B. and Anna M. (Greenfield) Bowman and graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1960. On September 29, 1962, he married his childhood sweetheart Rebecca Bark.
For many years, Jim worked as a welder for Pipefitters Local #190. He was a devoted member of the Chippewa Lake Community Church. An avid outdoors-man, Jim enjoyed golfing, fishing, trapping, and hunting especially for racoons. He taught his children to ski in their youth, and loved spending time with his grand- and great-grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his wife Beck; daughter Jamie (Kevin) Schroeder of Holland; son John (Melissa) of Rodney; grandchildren Jarred Bowman, Elizabeth Bowman, Jacquelyn (Nick) Hibma, and Bryan Schroeder; great-grandchildren Remington, Kimber, Emma, Karli, Arianna, Anthony, Naomi, and Nolan; 3 sisters, Gloria (Dale) Weeks, Barbara (Bob) Huttinga, and Mary (Mike) Bowerfind; his brother Robert (Marla) Bowman; many nieces and nephews; his adopted angel Shannon Crame, and his lifelong friend Willie Finney.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with his friend and Pastor Roger Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Plains Cemetery in Colfax Township. Jim's family will greet friends at the funeral home beginning at 11 00 a.m. on Wednesday. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Chippewa Lake Community Church, or the Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids.
