James Herbert Chubb's Obituary
James “John” Herbert Chubb, age 79, of Blanchard, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home on June 8, 2026.
Born on May 18, 1947, in Michigan, James was the son of Ray and Maxine Chubb. He spent his entire life in the Blanchard area, where he was known as a quiet, kindhearted, and lovable man who deeply cherished his family and the simple joys of life.
James worked as a laborer for Morbark for several years. Outside of work, he enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and hunting. He found great pleasure in watching the birds around his home, building birdhouses, tending to his garden, and watching deer roam through his property. James also enjoyed working on cars, caring for his beloved cats, and gathering with family for dinners and special occasions. Above all, he treasured the time spent with his nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly.
James is survived by his brother, David (Shirley) Chubb; his sisters, Esther (Ed) Crowley Sr., Nancy Chubb, and Edith (Mike) Mayer; and his many nieces and nephews, including David (Collean) Chubb, Edwin Crowley Jr., Mike Crowley, Tom (Elizabeth) Crowley, Sheryl (Ike) King, Karol Chubb, Michelle Mayer, and Cindy Bellmer. He is also survived by numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Maxine Chubb; his sisters, Barb Chubb and Johanna Darymple; and his nephews, Marty Bellmer, Robin Darymple, and Steve Mayer.
In keeping with James’ wishes, no services are scheduled currently.
Care and arrangements have been entrusted to the Janowicz Family Funeral Home of Remus, Michigan.
