James Anthony Cusimano's Obituary
Stanwood - James Anthony Cusimano, 83, of Stanwood, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital.
He was born February 12, 1938 in Detroit, the son of Stefano and Amber (Havalin) Cusimano. Jim graduated from Grosse Pointe High School in 1956, and on February 10, 1957, he married the love of his life Helen Simms.
Jim was considered a self-made man and for many years he owned and operated a rustproofing franchise in Detroit. In 1977, Jim and Helen moved to Paris and they purchased the Paris Ziebart franchise. Jim and Helen were both entrepreneurs at heart who also owned several other businesses, including Rainbow Self-Storage. Jim enjoyed hunting, loved coffeeshops and playing cards with friends. He will always be remembered for his quick-witted personality and the love for his family.
Jim was preceded in death by Helen on April 23, 2016. He is survived by one son, Stephen (Laurie) of Hersey; one daughter, Constance (Jamie) Brady of Reed City; five grandchildren, Jimmy, Nicholas, Shane, Ashley, and Brad; two great-grandsons, James, Jr. and Owen; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his sisters Sherry and Barbara, and his brother Joseph.
Graveside services for Jim will be held this spring at the Pine Plains Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to Helen. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to a charity of choice.
