James "Jim" Leslie Palmer Sr.'s Obituary
Lakeview-James "Jim" Leslie Palmer Sr., age 69, of Lakeview passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. Jim was born on March 17, 1954, in Schenectady, New York to Bertram and Mable (Fowler) Palmer. He was raised in Ballston Spa, NY, where he attended school, graduating with the Class of 1972. Jim served his country honorably in both the US Marine Corps and US Navy. He was a self-employed farmer, after moving to Michigan, helping with a family-owned dairy operation and raising hogs. Jim then began his career as a long-haul truck driver, being employed by various area companies before his retirement in 1995. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and loved spending time with his children, especially teaching them important life lessons. Jim is survived by his children, James Palmer Jr. of Chippewa Lake, Heather (Andrew) Hissong of Lakeview, Cody Palmer of Lakeview, Daisy, Cole, Angel, Hope, and Faith Palmer all of Weidman; grandchildren, Isaac, Savannah, and Abel Fast, Zachary and Andrew Jr. Hissong, Kahlen, Addyson, and Aiden Palmer, Connor Palmer; brother, Arnold Palmer of New York; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Corey Palmer; and his parents, Bertram and Mable Palmer. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview with Pastor Frank Taylor officiating. Those wishing to donate in Jim's memory are asked to consider the needs of his family.
