James "Jim" J. Wood's Obituary
Lakeview-James "Jim" J. Wood, age 82, of Sand Lake, passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. He was born on October 5, 1939, the son of Stanley and Vera (Leach) Wood, in Six Lakes, where he was also raised. Jim attended school in Edmore, graduating with the Class of 1957. Upon graduation he served honorably in the United States Navy. Jim was employed as a cement truck driver for Darrel Clark Ready Mix in Six Lakes for many years and then for Coit Avenue Gravel Company in Grand Rapids until his retirement in 1997. He married the love of his life, Sandra "Sandy" in 1985. Jim was a kindhearted man who loved his wife and family deeply. He was very mechanical and was always busy doing something in his garage. Jim was very passionate about rebuilding and restoring old cars. He enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and going to races at the dirt track.
Jim is survived by his wife, Sandy Wood of Sand Lake; children, Kay (Kevin) VanOss of Zeeland, Jerry (Robby) Wilson of Newaygo, Greg Wilson of Walker; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Floris "Bill" (Renee) Wood; sister, Marlene Gilbert; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his son, Duane Wilson; parents, Stanley and Vera; 6 brothers and 2 sisters.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview with Pastor Jonathan Clear officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral chapel from 1:00 PM until time of service.
