James L. Manoski's Obituary
Big Rapids James L. Manoski, 69, of Big Rapids, passed away Saturday, April 5, at Spectrum Health Butterworth in Grand Rapids. He was born April 30, 1938, in Big Rapids, the son of Aloysius and Goldie Marie (Bobo) Manoski, and graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1956. Jim served with Company E of the Army National Guard of Michigan for 8 years, and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Reserve in 1964. For nearly 40 years, Jim worked for the Giant Supermarket chain, retiring as Regional Supervisor. He was a lifetime member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Big Rapids, where he also served as a volunteer fireman. Jim was also a member of the AmVets Post #1941, and the B.P.O. Elks #974. Surviving are 5 children, Leanne Manoski of Muskegon, Darlene (John) Mooney, Steve Manoski, and Gary (Cindy) Manoski, all of Deltona, FL, and Jean (Jeff) Baumunk of Big Rapids; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; and special friend Janet Alcorn. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 10, 2008, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with Rev. Lam T. Le officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery, with military services under the auspices of the AmVets Post #1941. Jims family will greet friends at the funeral home after 10:00 a.m. on Thursday.
