James Leo Mitchell's Obituary
Barton Township-James Leo Mitchell, age 76, passed away Saturday,March 27, 2010. He was born September 5, 1933 in Paris, Michigan. Jim graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1951. He joined the United States Navy for two years. Following discharge he worked as a Mechant Marine sailing the Great Lakes. Jim worked for the Michigan Department of Transportation for 33 years as Aggregate Inspector, retiring in 1990. Jim was a member of the AMVETS #1941, one of the original members and helped build the Paris Trailblazers Snowmobile Trail. He is survived by three sons, Richard (Laine) of Big Rapids, Rodney (Crystal) of Paris, and Robert (Kelly Jo) of Paris. Jim is also survived by nine grandchildren, six greatgrandchildren, two nieces and special friend, Patty Maguire and he was preceded in death by sister, Norma Schuberg. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Mohnke Funeral Home, Big Rapids
