James Jimmy Raffel's Obituary
Caledonia- James Arthur "Jimmy" Raffel, age 60, of Caledonia, formerly of Big Rapids, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011. He was born February 1, 1951, in Big Rapids, the son of Arthur and Adell (Solesky) Raffel. Jimmy was baptized and confirmed as a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Big Rapids. He was a resident of the Bethesda Lutheran Communities in Wisconsin and Caledonia, where he was part of a loving, caring extended family. He was a member of St. Marks Lutheran Church of Kentwood. Jimmy is survived by two brothers, Paul Raffel of Cottageville, South Carolina and David Raffel of Rogers, Arkansas; four nephews, Paul Jr. and Chris Raffel of Big Rapids, David Jr. of Illinois and Darryl Raffel of Jenison. Also surviving are several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2011 at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor John Bookshaw officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Highland View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethesda Lutheran Community.
