Jane Bechaz's Obituary
? ? ? Big Rapids-Jane Bechaz, 93, of Big Rapids passed away Saturday, August 13, 2011. She was born January 3, 1918 in Big Rapids Township to William and Mary (Fribley) Hosier where she had lived most of her life. Jane graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1937. In 1940 she married Oswald (Ossie) Bechaz who preceded her in death in 1993. Jane lived on the same farm where she was born, dairy farming with Ossie. She had been a member of St. Andrew Episcopal Church for over 30 years where all her children were baptized and confirmed. Jane had a long time hobby of making Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls and made over 500 of them over the years. She also took pleasure in her gardening, sewing, crocheting and family. For several years they cared for foster children in their home and treated them as their own children. She was always interested in community affairs. Jane is survived by her four children; Janice (William) Streeter of Missouri City, Texas, Robert (Ruthann Romine) Bechaz of Morley, Mary (Wesley) Bigelow of Morley and John Bechaz of Stanwood; eight much loved grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and many Bechaz relatives around Mecosta County. Jane was preceded in death by nine brothers, Paul, Jake, Jerry, William, John, Charles, Gavin, Robert and Alton Hosier and one sister, Elisabeth (Joseph) Sell. She is also survived by many much loved nieces and nephews who spent happy and welcome visits to the farm over the years. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 19, 2011 at Highland View Cemetery with a luncheon following at the Stanwood Eagles Club Memorial contributions may be made to the Charlie Fairman Community Pool of Big Rapids.
