Jane Elizabeth Murphy's Obituary
After a long and full life, Jane Elizabeth Murphy passed away on July 4, 2023. Born on March 7, 1933, Jane was the firstborn child to Fred and Margaret (Wright) Drain. Growing up during the depression instilled in Jane a deep-rooted importance of family and friends.
Becoming a June bride in 1953, she married her sweetheart, Richard Murphy. They worked together to raise their family, he bringing home an income, she keeping their home and raising their family that eventually grew to 7. Rounding out their life together, some of her most cherished times were spent on vacation with Richard.
Heartache touched her life in 1984 with the death of their child, Thomas. Jane kept this loss in her heart, quietly mourning her child for the rest of her days, soothing that wound with as much love and family as possible.
Jane enjoyed her idle moments keeping her mind sharp with reading, watching birds, and working crosswords. This sharpness served her sense of humor well as she loved dishing out a well-timed retort or telling a good joke. One always knew where they stood with Jane who never hesitated to share her opinions. The most satisfying times for Jane was enjoying her family and neighborhood friends. She will be greatly missed.
Jane is preceded in death by parents, Fredrick and Margaret; brother, Robert Drain, and beloved son Thomas Murphy.
Left to carry on her likeness, humor, and joy are her beloved spouse, Richard; Children: Roxanne (Keith) Touchette, David (Patty) Murphy, James (Kathy Glidden) Murphy, Caroline Murphy, Patrick (Kerry) Murphy, Sharon (John) Nappi; 14 Grandchildren and 18 Great-Grandchildren.
Per her wishes, cremation will take place with a service to follow at a later date.
