Obituary
Edmore - Janet Lou Dishong, 68 of Vestaburg, Michigan, passed away on Saturday February 3rd 2018 at home with her husband by her side. She was born to Emerson and Alice Rentschler in Lakeview, Michigan on May 29, 1949. She used to say, "I was born 100 years after the Gold Rush."
Janet graduated from Lakeview Community Schools in 1967 and went on to receive an Associate's Degree in Accounting from Davenport University in Grand Rapids Michigan. She then worked at Kelsey Memorial Hospital for some time. On June 17, 1972 she married Duane LeRoy Dishong and shared over 45 years with him. Together they raised 4 children. Janet was a 'stay-at-home mom' until the youngest children were in school. After which, she began her 27 years at Brockway Christian Academy beginning in the library where she saw a need and eventually becoming a monitor for the school.
Janet enjoyed doing very creative things. For many years, she organized a fundraiser for the school where she taught, and where she handmade all of the decorations. She also enjoyed things such as sewing, taking pictures, cross-stitching, and reading good books. She also loved to decorate her entire house with Christmas Village sets and other Christmas decorations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents and one brother, Duane Rentschler.
She is survived by her husband, Duane Dishong of Vestaburg, four children, Nathan (Nancy) Dishong of Blanchard, Sarah Dishong of Alma, Matthew Dishong of St. Louis and Martha (Gary McCoy) Dishong of Alma and a sister, Lois (Leonard) Schneider of Ohio. She was also loved by 6 grandchildren, Bethany, Blake, Leilani, Hunter, Logan, Brady and one niece, Jennifer Miller.
Services for Janet will be Saturday, February 10, 2018, at 2:00 PM, at Brigham Funeral Chapel, Edmore, Michigan. Visitation with the family will be from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, February 9, 2018 and again on Saturday from 1:00PM - 2:00PM prior to services. Burial will take place at McBride Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at Rock Lake Bible Methodist Church 8227 N. Pine Grove Road in Vestaburg. Anyone wishing to contribute in Janet's memory are asked to consider Brockway Christian Academy.
