Janet Hanchett Hoffstot's Obituary
Hershey, PA- Janet Hanchett Hoffstot, 67, formerly of Big Rapids, passed away Monday, November 22, 2010 at the Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA after an extended illness. She was born in Big Rapids on October 18, 1943 to the late Mr. Kent Steator Hanchett and she lived in Big Rapids until entering the University of Alabama where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree, followed by Northern Iowa University where she earned a Masters Degree. She later attended Vanderbilt University and then Virginia Tech where she earned a Post Masters Degree. She was an Associate Dean of Students and Associate Professor at Shippensburg University, retiring after 33 years of service to the University. She is survived by her husband, Mr. Francis Donnelly Hoffstot of Big Rapids and Hershey, PA; her sister Mrs. Mary Hanchett Karrh and her husband, Dr. John B. Karrh of Statesboro, GA, as well as her niece, Dr. Carolyn Elaine Karrh of Denver, CO and nephews, John B. Karrh, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer and children, Kristen and Kaitlin of Statesboro, GA and Kent Hanchett Karrh of Atlanta, GA and several cousins. Funeral service will be on 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 2, 2010 at the Mohnke Funeral Home, Big RapidswithJon Fleming officiatingwith visitation from 9-10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the family plot at Highland View Cemetery immediately following the service.
